World Hepatitis Day 28/7: Let's break down barriers together
Hepatitis – especially hepatitis B and C – is silently affecting hundreds of millions of people around the world. In Vietnam, the rate of hepatitis B infection is high, but many people have not been diagnosed and treated in time.
Every year, July 28 – the birthday of Dr. Baruch Blumberg, Nobel laureate for discovering the hepatitis B virus and developing a vaccine – is chosen as World Hepatitis Day. This year's theme is:
🔶 "Let's break down barriers together"
📌 Break down barriers to testing, treatment, and prevention.
📌 Eliminate stigma and ignorance about the disease.
📌 Encourage the community to have regular liver health checks.
Why is hepatitis dangerous?
Hepatitis B and C can have no obvious symptoms for many years.
Without treatment, the disease can progress to cirrhosis and liver cancer.
In Vietnam, many people discover the disease late – losing the opportunity for effective treatment.

✅ What can we do?
Regular screening tests – especially for people at high risk.
Get vaccinated against hepatitis B, especially for infants and adults who are not immune.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle, limit alcohol, and protect the liver.
Find accurate medical information, do not discriminate against people with hepatitis.
